They might look healthy and picture perfect.
Shockingly quite a number of them were diagnosed with Diabetes.
Check this out.
Halle Berry
Our favourite cat woman, Halle Berry was diagnosed with diabetes at age 22, after she became ill and slipped into a weeklong coma. Forget the gossip that Berry had "weaned" herself from insulin and switched from type 1 to type 2 diabetes... that's impossible. She said that she keeps the disease under control through a healthy diet and regular exercise.
Randy Jackson
American Idols judge, Randy Jackson diagnosed with diabetes type 2 on 2002 when he taught he was minor cold or some sort of "flu". A wake up call for him indeed, he lost 100 pounds, improved his diet, and made exercise, including walking on a treadmill and practicing yoga as a staple of his life.
Salma Hayek
Actress Salma Hayek had gestational diabetes, a type of diabetes that happens during pregnancy, while pregnant with her daughter, Valentina. Hayek has a family history of diabetes. Almost all women are screened for gestational diabetes when they are 24-28 weeks pregnant; high-risk women may be screened earlier. Gestational diabetes usually goes away after pregnancy, but it raises the risk of developing type 2 diabetes or getting gestational diabetes again.
Chaka Khan
Music legend Chaka Khan, 59, was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 2011. She has said that her diagnosis quickly promoted her to take stock of her life and health, and begin making changes for the better. Since learning she has the disease, the Queen of Funk has shed an incredible 60 pounds, thanks to an extreme mostly liquid, vegan diet.
Larry King
He’s one of the most well-known television interviewers alive. "It's definitely controllable," King has said on his show. Diabetes makes heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, and other serious health problems more likely.
Sherri Shepherd
The actress and co-host of "The View" credits her Type 2 diabetes diagnosis with motivating her to lose excess weight". "My mom died of diabetes complications when she was 41," Shepherd told Fitness Magazine. "When I was 40, my doctor told me, 'I don't know when you're going to have a stroke, but it's going to happen.'"After that conversation,
Shepherd worked hard on her fitness and diet program and lost a reported 10 inches off her waist in just three months.
Elliot Yamin
A standout singer who finished in third place on the fifth season of American Idol, Elliott Yamin was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in his mid-teens. Yamin has told interviewers that he was angry, embarrassed, and in denial about his diabetes back then. But Yamin, who wears an insulin pump, has matured into a role model for young adults with diabetes. In a 2007 interview with Parade, Yamin encouraged diabetes patients to "stay positive and don't let the disease hold you back."
Nick Jonas
Singer Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers went public with his type 1 diabetes in 2007. He has said that his symptoms included weight loss and thirst. When diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, his blood sugar was over 700 normal blood sugar levels are from 70 to 120. Jonas was hospitalized and learned to manage his type 1 diabetes. Once called juvenile diabetes, type 1 diabetes is the most common type of diabetes among people younger than 20, but
it can strike at any age.
People often think that type 2 diabetes strikes only the overweight and sedentary, or unhealthy eaters. Truth is, anyone can be diagnosed with diabetes, even world-class athletes, or the rich and famous. The above celebrities all had some risk factors for diabetes (such as weight, ethnicity, or family history), but many were still shocked to hear the diagnosis. They’ve all made healthy changes in their lives, and many now speak out about the dangers of type 2 diabetes. YOU SHOULD TOO.
